My favorite phrase used during group riding session is "ROLLING." It keeps me coming back. If someone decides to change the lingo to be - Go! or Moving! or Forward!, I don't think I would bother with group rides anymore. It's not a universal term yet, but by September 24th, I believe I will bring all road bikers under the great umbrella of ROLLING. It's the term yelled when the group can start moving again after hitting a light, or other bothersome item in our way.
Ok, I admit it. I skipped track tonight! I usually am 110% on board for a track workout and usually delight in the thought of a rainy track workout, but don't be too worried - I woke up early for a swim at Walden Pond with fellow Teleflex atheletes Kristen Williams and Kelly Church. So I let the evening slide by with other priorities taking hold.
The evening hours flew by with my intentions resting on a visit to the gym. I am taking my quest for Bottom Line very seriously. I am currently plugging away at a local Starbucks laying out my training calendar and researching possible fundraising venues. In reaction to Nick LaPete's text this morning, "I am excited for your fundrasiers! They are the social events of the year!" How convenient that he thinks so because I also just enjoy hosting an event to see my friends, have them all meet each other AND all for a good cause!
Speaking of raising funds, Thank You to Anthony Leonardi, Kokou Amefia and Cathleen McGarry for your generous donations! The early support is literally like a hug for me and the Bottom Line students! Thank you!
Ok. Training plans are plentiful in every form on
Bicycling.com. I almost have too many to choose from - what a tragic dilemma. Not only can you train for biking, but there are several versions for a century ride. I want the training focused on Staying On My Bike. I'm sure I will figure it out eventually, here is my first schedule . Turns out - this isn't even a plan... but it did bring up excellent points and more homework for me. The other links - Crash Course to Century seems very applicable, but did not provide an actual schedule either. When I have a real plan I will let you know, and touch base with TJ Jourdan and Leighton Paris in the shipping department of Telflex. I had the chance to catch up with them today and I think they are genuinely concerned for my health in undertaking this crazy goal. Perhaps they have a point, I am a little in over my head at this point. But fully invested to ride 100 miles and "wake up at 3AM to do so."
Maybe clipless pedals tomorrow? Today was devoted to the roommate search and training research.
